Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign
"We envision a Minnesota where all residents have access to healthy food and no one suffers from hunger. By increasing awareness and advocating for long-term solutions to hunger in our communities, together we can meet the needs of those who need it most."
Minnesota FoodShare is a statewide grassroots campaign dating back to 1982, when a campaign led by congregations collected funds and food for the food shelves in the 7-county Twin Cities Metropolitan Area.
Today, the March Campaign is the largest grassroots food and fund drive in the state. In 2016, the March Campaign raised $7.9 million dollars and 5.2 million pounds of food; the most successful campaign in its 34 year history. The Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign invites various Minnesota organizations, businesses, and places of worship to collect funds and food donations to help keep 300 food shelves statewide stocked throughout the year.
Every March, the co-op participates in the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign. We're asking our customers to round up to whole dollar amounts at the register or donate your spare change. We’ll be collecting food donations at the front of the store (near the brochure rack). All of Linden Hills Co-op’s food and monetary donations will be going to Joyce Uptown Food Shelf.
